Phosphorus Use Efficiency in Permanent Pastures in Andisols

چکیده

The phosphorus (P) availability in volcanic soils is a main limitation for permanent pasture growth. Phosphorus use efficiency (PUE) must be improved to increase forage production with minimum impact on the environment. aim of present study was assess at field conditions PUE, P uptake (PUPE), utilization (PUTE), and nutrition index (PNI) pastures grown different environments under rates sources. Three experiments were conducted Southern Chile. Treatments resulted from factorial combination (i) two sources (phosphate rock triple superphosphate) (ii) rates. High variations PUPE (0.004–0.108 kg kg−1 available), PUTE (189–756 DM uptake), PUE (1.3–42.7 PNI (0.32–1.33) observed across experiments, rates, harvest dates. significantly related PUPE. through negative power function. Therefore, higher or lower PUTEs will result deficiency luxury consumption conditions, respectively. Fertilizer effects on phosphorus fractions and organic matter in Andisols

Andisols are characterized by a high phosphorus (P) fixation capacity, which is a limiting factor for plant production. Continuous application of P fertilizer may result in an accumulation of P associated with soil organic matter (SOM), which further acts to reduce the availability of the added P. The objectives of this study were (1) to evaluate the impact of P fertilizer inputs on the quantit...

Relationship between photosynthetic phosphorus-use efficiency and foliar phosphorus fractions in tropical tree species

How plants develop adaptive strategies to efficiently use nutrients on infertile soils is an important topic in plant ecology. It has been suggested that, with decreasing phosphorus (P) availability, plants increase photosynthetic P-use efficiency (PPUE) (i.e., the ratio of instantaneous photosynthetic carbon assimilation rate per unit foliar P). However, the mechanism to increase PPUE remains ...

Enhancing plant phosphorus use efficiency for sustainable cropping.

Phosphorus (P) is one of the least available mineral nutrients to the plants in many cropping environments. Sub-optimal P nutrition can lead to yield losses in the range of 10% to 15% of the maximal yields. P deficiency is more critical in highly withered soils as well as in calcareous and alkaline soils. Amelioration attempts by addition of phosphatic fertilizers are economically and ecologica...

Effect of phosphorus on arsenic uptake and metabolism in rice cultivars differing in phosphorus use efficiency and response.

A hydroponic experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of phosphorus (P) nutrition on arsenic (As) uptake and translocation within the seedlings of rice cultivars. The experiment occurred in three stages: I 5 days of acclimatization (nutritive solution); II 10 days under P (0.0 and 0.09 mM) and As (0.0 and 100 mM) treatments; III 5 days under recovery. The As exposure had significant...
